Sir Samuel Hillier amassed a remarkable collection of eighteenth-century music and from this collection at the Barber Institute in Birmingham this CD presents twenty songs from two composers of the period. The Holywell Ensemble plus Kiera Lyness - soprano and Nicholas Sales - tenor demonstrate how accessible this music is for modem ensembles. If Handels' influence was pervasive, then here is something persuasive!
